Best Romanian House Music 2011- Top Clubbing Songs - Latest Club Songs

Over the past few years, Romania has been on house music overdrive, with artists such as Inna, Edward Maya, Alexandra Stan and Akcent releasing one hit after another.
What makes Romanian house music stand out and in fact, very popular, is its excessive use of traditionally distinct, yet catchy, Romanian style tracks combined with a fusion of house.
Romania’s club hits, although making instant successes in their home country, generally take time to spread across the continent as was seen with Edward Maya’s- Stereo Love, which in 2009, took months to make into the Western Europe, US and International charts.
Past Romanian hits include, of course, Edward Maya - Stereo Love, Akcent - My passion/That’s My Name, Inna - Hot/Déjà vu/Love etc… but below will only include the most recent of Romania’s house exports.
1. Alexandra Stan - Mr Saxobeat
Released at the beginning of the year, in January 2011, this hit entitled “Mr Saxobeat” gained immediate success in its home country of Romania, where it reached the no.1 position for 8 consecutive weeks. Soon later it quickly gained no.1 position in Italian and Danish charts, including peak positions in music charts throughout Europe and eventually internationally.
The song is, more than likely, called “Mr. Saxobeat”, due to the use of Saxophone throughout the track and due to her singing about a man who makes her “move like a freak”.
This is an upbeat and sexy, house music style song, with an obvious Romanian style track, which makes it unique, like most Romanian house music.
2. Dony feat. Elena Gheorghe - Hot Girls
“Hot Girls” reached instant success when released back at the beginning of 2011. This song was a major hit for Dony, who isn’t very mainstream, and was his first major club hit.
The track features the beauty, Elena Gheorghe, who represented Romaniain the 2009 Eurovision with her song “The Balkan Girls”.
“Hot Girls” is a energetic and upbeat house style song with a lower key, but noticeable, Romanian house music style track.
3. Akcent – My Passion
Akcent is a well established Romanian house music and europop group who began their career in 1999. Their songs have reached the no.1 and top positions in Romania countlessly and reached high in the charts throughout Europe, the middle east, Africa,South America and so on.
“My Passion” is a tribal sounding, ethnic, slower paced, passionate song about a girl trying to convince her lover that he is still the one for her and that there is still passion in their relationship. Although not being a conventional house style song, it still gained huge success in the house and club music scenes.
4. Edward Maya feat. Vika Jigulina - Desert Rain
Edward Maya, sometimes referred to as, the David Guetta of Romania, made astronomical success back in 2009 with his worldwide club anthem “ Stereo Love” featuring the artist Vika Jigulina, who appears in a few of his songs.
“Desert Rain” was released right before the beginning of 2011 on Christmas Day December 2010, but made it into the charts in 2011.
The song has a single Romanian, ethnic back track which is repeated throughout with a touch of Latin style guitar at points.
5. Akcent - Love Stoned
“Love Stoned”, by the well established Romanian group, Akcent, was actually released back in 2010 but remains, like Edward Maya’s - Desert Rain, in the 2011 Romanian house music charts.
With a very Romanian style backing track and style of singing with an overall house influence, this song, like others from Romania, is a very unique hit in both 2010 and 2011.
The official video features the stunning Romanian Model, Raluca Negrea, from Allure Models.
6. Inna - Sun is Up
Released back in the beginning of 2011, “Sun is Up” remains a cute, cheerful and carefree style summer house tune, by the uber cute, pint size, Inna.
Inna has had ultimate successes with her previous hits, “Hot”, “Love”, “Déjà vu”, “Amazing” and “10 minutes”, where they all have reached top spots in Romania’s charts, as well as in other countries. In France, Inna had 5 consecutive top 10 singles.
7. Inna - Club Rocker
“Club Rocker”, released during the summer of 2011, is one of Inna’s latest house music successes. Unusually, this summer tune is a little different than Inna’s usual Romanian house style tracks and sounds a little more generic, although it is catchy and has some strong base.
8. Radio Killer - Lonely Heart
Radio Killer is not technically a group, but a project released, in 2009, by the HaHaHa production company in Romania. Their first single was entitled “Voila” and received massive success throughout, Romania, Eastern Europe and France. They then released their second single “Be Free” which also received massive success and now “Radio Killer”.
